MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION

The Management Committee of the above union met in the Chronicle office on Monday evening.

The matter of continuing the second j ! round of Cup fixtures on Saturday J netx, August 9fch, was discussed. j The secretary repoted that be had interviewed the Distict Health Office, who had advised him that it would not be wise to continue fixtures yet. —lt was decided that the draw be again postponed. A letter was received from the secretary of the Hamilton Rubgy Uniun, stating that on account of the epidemic his union deemed it unwise to send a team to Te Kuiti on August 16th, but hoped to send a team later in the season. A letter was received from the ] South Auckland Union forwarding copy of the decision of the New Zealand Union re reinstating players.— The letter was considered unsatisfactory and it was decided to go further into the matter. _ I ASSOCIATION. TE KUITI v. TE AWAMUTU. The second game in the Cup fixtures was played at~Te Kuiti on Saturday between Te Kuiti and Te Awamutu. The ground was in a very wet state which militated against good play. Two forty-five minute spells were played. During the first half Te Awamutu had the best of the game and only the good defensive play of Rundell, the Te Kuiti goalkeeper, saved his side from having at least one or two goals scored against them The second spell was more evenly com tested and on occasions the Te Kuiti men were dangerous. Te Awamutu scored one goal, which proved to be the only score gained in the match. The match was played in a very friendly spirit and Te Awamutu are to be congratulated upon their win. When the local men have had more practice and experience at the game itis quite sure they will at a future date give a good account of themselves, Mr Cowan carried the duties of referee in an efficient manner.
