POLITICAL NOTES.
The Minister for Finance stated on Monday that he expected to be able to present the Financial Statement to the House of Representatives on Wednesday, or at the latest, Thursday, evening When the Statement has been received in Ihe House, the Estimates will be referred to the Public Accounts Committee The debate will probably not be opened until next week.
Country members are not contemplating the prospect of a long pes lion with equanimity this year, especially in view of the already half-realised ► early spring. The Pime Minister said something on Friday about six months' work ahead, but it ib not expeted that the Houbb will really sit so long. It was thought by the Government at the beginning of the session, that Parliament might disperse about the beginning of November, but the prospects of such an early closing are not nearly so bright now. The mostjoptimistic suggestion is that the session may finish about the end of Novmber.
