The annual meeting of the Taranaki " Teachers' Institute resolved, "That if pupil teachers are to be employed, the salaries paid shall not be lower than 'those paid to cadets of similar standing in other branches of the Government service; also, that the Institute ia strongly of opinion that improvement in teachers' salaries should be taken in hand during this session of Parrliarnent, and that the system of payment on attendance, or the roll number, should be abolished."
