SATURDAY AFTERNOON PAY. NIAGARA'S STAFF GIVE NOTICE. Uy Telegraph.—Tress Association— CopyrislH Received Friday, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, Friday. Trouble has arisen between the Union Company and the Australian Institute of Marine Engineers over the company's action in deducting half a day's pay for Saturday afternoon.

The engine room staff of the Niagara at noon to-day gave twentyfour hours' notice. .The men claim the company is not justified in deducting pay since New Zealand and Sydney agreement stipulates that + he men are not to work on Saturday afternoon unless it is sailing day.

It is understood negotiations have commenced. The .Niagara is due to sail on Monday for Vancouver via Auckland.
