PIO PIO.

Own Correspondent. That popular annual fixture —the Pio Pio Bachelors' Ball—was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening, and was voted one of the most enjoyable yet held. The night w;is fine, the moonlight enticing people from nil parts of the district. Music was suppl.ed by Mr Friday (piano) and Mr Lindsay (violin), while extras were played by Misses Burnell and Smith and Messrs B. Pettigrew and A. Asplin. During the evening Mr Ward favoured the company with songs, Mr Cave a recitation, and Mr Friday a step dance. The Pio Pio bachelors, I might mention here, were all to the fore when the "Moonlight" dance was announced, every available lady being secured immediately. Messrs Nolan and Hearn made efficient M.C's. A first-class supper was partaken of, after which dancing was entered into again, and kept going merrily until about 4 a.m. The married men intend giving a return ball to the bachelors in about a month or six weeks' time.
