CLAIM ON BOROUGH COUNCIL
A short time ago in consequence of complaints that horses and vehicles j were cutting up the footpath at the corner of Dr Mcßae' a property the Borough engineer caused to be erected a! the curner soma posts and wire hi to prevent trespass. On the ofturday evening after the fence was erected Mr Dran.field, in crossing the road to the footpath, fell over the wire and sustained certain At Monday evening's meeting of the rnuncil a letter was read from Mr SSSfIeW. stating that he tained injuries to his face and hands , and that his kidneys had been affected. p e had been under treatment by Dr Mcßae and claimed £SO from the C °ln C ieply to the Mayor the engineer explained that the wire had been ofaced at the corner to fence off the footpath from the road. He had g:ven instructions to have the wire placed four feet from the ground. He u nder " stood a horse and cow had got into the Lire and had caused it to sag, leaving it only about eighteen inches above tb The° matter was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee.
