WAITANGURU.

Own Correspondent. The months are swiftly fleeting by and everything ia being briskly ac- j complished in preparedness for the coming milking season. The factory I which stands at present in an advance! j state of construction i? striking evidence that a good effort is going to be made to permanently establish the j dairying industry iti this district. I That this desired end will be attained there remains not the slightest doubt, for the splendid quality of the surrounding country ie sufficient proof to warrant it. Moreover, when we remember that the directors who are all experienced men, decided to erect this factory with a capacity to deal with 1000 butter fat cows, We may be sure that they have made no blunder. They have been most unfortunate in having to occasion the delay of building the factory on account of the green state of the timber. However, it is expected that the builder, Mr Hitchcock, will shortly be in readines3 to recommence operations; and ere many weeks have passed by we hope to view the ."finished article." Messrs Armstrong Bros., who were the successful tenderers for the supply of thirty cords of firewood for the factory, are rearing the completion of their contract and have commenced carting, Mr Dick Armstrong is now busily engaged on the bottom end of the Mangaotaki road in widening opera--1 tions of what is at present a 6ft track into a 12ft road, and when the three miles of road between here and Mangaotaki iB completed there will then be a road which will admit vehicular traffic right into Pio Pio. It had been proposed only recently by some of the local men to form a musical party, and as a sequence of this proposal a meeting was held recently at Mr K. Thomas' for the purpose of debating the question. After an interesting and lengthy discussion it was unanimously agreed upon that a company be formed and designated the "Waitanguru Amateur Comedy Company"; Thii is another forward step and should prove most beneficial to all local functions, and thUB arouse interest generally. We wish the company all success in their go ahead movement, and trust all efforts will be justly rwearded.
