Newton King reports:— At Ngaere on 2nd inst. for Mr C. H. Harrison's clearing sale, notwithstanding the very wet day, there was a good attendance of buyers and the herd of 26 cows, which included one empty cow, three-quarter cows and a good number aged, averaged £8 5s 6d. The young cows sold up to £l2, threequarter cows £4 to £6, aged cows from £5 to £7 15s. At Stratford on 3rd inst., I had a very successful dispersal sale on account of Mr Thos. Webb, a wellknown pedigree Ayrshire and Berkshire breeder. Buyers were present in good numbers from all parts of the province. The pedigree Ayshire cattle were well distributed through the disI trict, two heifers being "purchased for the Moumahaki Station and several going to Messrs Coker Bros., [ Okato. The pedigree Berkshire pigs i were a fine lot, these selling with excellent bidding, the highest price j being obtained for a sow, "Lucy of Fair Farm," to the Moumahaki State Farm at logns. The three other sows sold at 14, 10 and sgns. Prices realised were: Pedigree Ayrshire bulla 7 to 13gns, young bulls 3J to i -sgns, pedigree Ayrshire cows 9 to 20gns averaging pedigree Ayrshire heiferß (no pedigree) £l3 2s Gd to £l7 Is, grade cows £8 to £l3, averaging £9 for the line of 15, pedigree Berkshire boars 3i to lOJgns, breeding sows £ls to £2 12s 6d, sundries at market rates. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:— At Hamilton on July 3rd, fat wethers made 20s 6d to 20s 9d, fat ewes 19s 9d to 21s, fat cows £5 15s to £7 4s, store cows £3 10s to £3 15s, eighten months to two year steers £3 12s to £4 Bs, calves and yearlings 34s to £2 12s, dairy cows £6 Is to £6 12s 6d, porkers 20s to 235, slips 15s to 16s.

HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. Wellington, Monday. The High Commissioner's cablegram,, dated London, July sth, is aa follows : Mutton. —The market is firm. No change in prices except for heavyweights, which may be quoted l-16d higher. Canterbury 4id, light-weight as high as 4Jd, heavy-weight 4Jd, North Island 4£d. Lamb. —The market is weak, with downward tendency, and prices have declined a farthing for best quality. There is dull sale for heavy caarcases. Canterbury, two's heavy-weight fours, sd, other than Canterbury sfd. Beef. —The market is firm, with poorer demand for fores. New Zealand, hind-quarters 4£d, fores 3£d; chilled hind 3 5 16d, fores 3d. Butter. —The market is quiet, with no change in prices.. Cheese. —The market ia firm, and prices continue to advance, with good demand for New Zealand cheese, first hand, stocks of which are practically cleared. New Zealand white 65s 6d, coloured 63s 6d; Canadian new make finest white and coloured 63s to 655. Hemp.—The market ia rather unsettled, and speculative prices are irregular. New Zealand good fair grade £29 10s, fair £26; fair current Manila £29, forward shipment about the same. The output from Manila for the week was 16,000 bales.
