A POLAR EXPEDITION.
Sitxeen years have elapsed since Herr Andree, with two companions left Danes ißland in a balloon in the hope that the wind would carry aim over the North Pole. His fate is not known with certainty, but there is gool reason to believe that he landed in the Arctic regions of Canada and was killed with his comrades by the alarmed Eskimos, who saw him descend from the sky. A rumour apparently relating an occurrence has been heard by several white travellers, and some objects believed to have belonged |to Andree have been recovered from the natives. Captain Christian Leden, the Norwegian explorer, who has left New York for North - Eastern Canada, hopeß to solve the mystery definitely by pressing his inquiries among the Eskimo tribes. His ambition is to recover Andree's journals, which probably are still in existence.
