HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLEGRAM. Wellington, Monday. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, June 14, is as follows (quotations unleßS otherwise specified being average market quotatons on spot):— Mutton—The market is firm, with no change in prices. Canterbury 4Jd. light: weights (small supply), as high as 4£d, North Island 4£d Lamb.—The market is not quite so firm, and there is dull sale for heavy carcasses lower prices. Canterbury, two's, 6Jd; heavyweight, four's, sid; other than Canterbury, unaltered. Beef.—The market is firm. New Zealand, hindquarters 3|d, fores, 3£d. Chilled Beef. —Supplies are decreasing, and pricß3 are firmer. Hindquarters, 4gd; fores, 3£d. River Plate shipments received during the month of May, 1913, were aB folioWß —London: Mutton, 55.532 carcasses; lamb, 55,500 carcases. At Liverpool: Mutton, 105,217 carcasses; mb, 72,680 carcasses. Hull: Mutton, 5317 carcasses. Southampton: Mutton, 2443 carcasses; lamb, 30 carcasses. Newcastle: Mutton, 6853 carcasses. Total, 17,362 carcasses mutton, 128,480 carcasses lamb. In May, 1912, the total arrivals were 136,475 carcasses of mutton and 31,160 carcasses lamb. Butter—The market is rather quiet, but there is good demand for choicest New Zealand and Australian. All prices have declined, excepting Danish. Choicest New Zealand, 113s; Danish, 116s 6d; Australian, 105s; Siberian, 100s. Cheese.—Stocks are sufficient for the demand which is very fair, and prices have been maintained. Hemp.—The market has been depressed, but at the close there was a better demand. During this Week good fair has been selling at £2B 10s; fair, £25. Values to day are about 5s to 10s lower for any position. Fair current Manila. £29 10s for all positions. The output from Manila for the week was 12,000 bales. Oats.—The market remains firm for best quality. The demand on spot is good. New Zealand peas (partridge), per 5041b5, 42s old crop, inferior, selling very slowly, per 5041b5, 37s 6d. Beans. —The market is quiet, but firm. New Zealand beans, f.a.q., old crop, per 5041b5, 40s. Cocksfoot Seed—Nothing has been done. Wool.—The market is firm and unchanged. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— At Waihou on June 13th we had a much smaller entry than usual. What was in, however, sold [remarkably well, all stock having a sharp rise. Fat ewes 15s to 17s 3d, fat hoggets 15s, 3mall store hoggets 8s to 9s 3d, small fat steers £7 15s to £lO 10s, fat cows £5 5s to £6 10s, steers making close up to 30s per 1001b, cows about 225, fresh conditioned cows £4 to £4 15s, store cows £3 to £3 10s, ; two year old steers up to £3 16s, real|ly good steers (last season's calves) j£3 Bs, similar heifers £3 Is, medium oalves 32s 6d to £2 9s, choice dairy j heifers forward in calf £5 15s to £6, j dairy cows £4 to £6 6s.
At Ohaupo on Tuesday, the 10th, we held our usual stock sale. There was a small entry, and practically everything yarded was sold. Fat steers brought £5 5s to £7 15s, fat steers £8 2s 6d 3| year steers £5 10s to £6 10s, heifers in calf £3 17s, forward empty cows £5 2s, good calves £2 10s to £2 12s, smaller £2, springing heifers £5 15s, stora wethers 13s 6d to 14s 3d, full-mouth ewes in lamb Bs. At Ohaupo on Wednesday we held our autumn horse sale, about 100 horses coming forward. Draughts made from £24 to £36, farm hordes £2O to £27, hacks £6 to £ls, unbroken farm horses £5 10s to £lB.
