TE KUITI RATEPAYERS AND CITIZENS ASSOCIATION.

At the monthly meeting of the above association, held in the Council Chamber on Monday evening last, there was a fair attendance. The interest in the subjects brought forward was keen and the discussion animated. A committee of the association has been formed to co-operate with the domain committee to organise a public function in the domain on Arbor Day, and if the domain is to be retained by the borough (and there seems little doubt on that point) it is to be hoped the public will support this effort to make it more of a credit to the community. Steps are also being taken to secure the erection of a dressing shed in the domain, and of public conveniences in the town—both matters of urgency in a progressive borough such as ours. There has been soma litle discord in the administration of electric light affairs, and a commitee has been appointed to shed a light—let us hope a soothina one —on thiß subject. The borough has been at considerable expense in installing the light, and equal facilities should be given to all consumers in the best inetersts of the borough. The arrangement that applications for the light should be dealt with in order of their rceeipt has not, accurding to information laid before the association, been adhered to. Altogether those present felt they had spent both a plaasant and profitable evening. The question of covering the spalls already laid down with river shingle was again discussed, and the meeting was unanimous in favour of that policy. ■ ' ,i—i—Himßß
