ARIA-PIO PIO ROAD.

METALLING BY GOVERNMENT. LETTER FROM PREMIER. The following letter, which has been received by Mr C. K. Wilßon, member for the district, from the Prime Minister, with respect to the PioPio-Aria road, will be read with interest by the settlers generally—Dear Sir, —In reference t) the representations made to me by Messrs Collins and Petrie at Aria recently, in regard to the Aria-Pio Pio road, lam now advisad by the Minister of Public Works that the twenty-five chains of metalling which I promised to have done would cost not £IOO, as was understood, but £250. In view of the urgency of the work and the promise made by me to the deputation a sum of £250 has now been authorised to the Waitomo County Council. The council is preparing to proceed immediately with the expeniture of some subsidy money on this road, and will carry out the work referred to in conjunction therewith. —Youra faithfully, W. F.
