AMUSEMENTS.
A FAREWELL SOCIAL. A pleasant social evening was spent last Friday, June 6th, in the Congregational Church, the object being to wish Mr A. R. McDonald farewell and "God-speed" on his long projected trip to his native land — Scotland. Mr McDonald has done good, steady, faithful service in the church ever since it was first opened. The mother's church" it might well be termed, as it was the first built in Te Kuiti. The Rev. Mr Gritffihs took the chair, and then songs "Queen of Angels," "The Lost Chord," and Anchored" were rendered sympathetically by Miss Butcher, Mrs Griffiths, and Mr Smyrden respectively; Miss Griffiths officiating at the organ. During the evening Mr McDonald was the recipient of a Gladstone bag and travelling rug. His Worship the Mayor, Mr J. Boddie, in a sympathetic and suitable manner made the presentation. Mr McDonald expects to be away about a twelve months, and will spend most of his time with his relatives in the North of Scotland, where it is hop?d he will have the muchneeded change which he has so well earned.
