MANGAORONGA BRANCH. J A meeting of the above was held at i Rangiatea scboolhouße on Monday, 2nd June. Present Messra Civicombe, in the chair, W. Swanson, secretary, Scott, Lurman, Lovejoy, Chiles, Nichols, Prendergast, Hoskins and Corboy. The secretary reported having written to the Minister of Public Works supporting the request of the Kio Kio branch to have a road granted from Mangaoronga to Kio Kio. The secretary was instructed to write urging the Commissioner of Crown Lands to open up a Bection of 500 acreß known aB Rangitoto A 63, Crown land. On the proposal of Mr Lurman, the secretary was requested to have a search made at the Native Lands Department to obtain particulars as to ownership of those blocks of unoccupied land, some 15,000 acres, lying to the east of Maihiihi, with the object of urging the Government to open up the land for settlement more expeditiously. The secretary was inatracted to ascertain from the Inspector of Noxious Weeds whether the oxeye daisy comes within the Act in this district; also to draw his attention to the large quantity of Canadian thistle and other noxiouß weed* on the unoccupied lands up the Taurroroa stream. Messrs E. Chiles, P. Magher, and S. D. Chiles were elected members. All members signified their intention of joining the Provincial Trading Association, Auckland.
