KING COUNTRY DAIRYING.

The progress made in the dairying industry in the King Country is indicated in a most gratifying manner by the fact that a*- the Waikato Winter Show the Te Kuiti Factory obtained first award in the class for home-separated butter, while Aria Factory was awarded a point behind the winning factory. That two King Country factories should compete so closely for first position in such an important contet is in the highest degree satisfactory, and that both tho factories mentioned are purely co-opera-tive concerns is additional cause for gratification on the part of the settlers of the district. An enterprise such as the co-operative dairy factory, from which the settlers are getting the whole of the benefit, is of the greatest importance to any district, and the success ot the factory in any shape or form is a matter for congratulation. That success should come to the King Country so rapidly is a sure indication of the suitability of the district for dairying on the best lines. A highly important factor in the reßult is, of course, the management, and the individuals who

are directly concerned in the manufacture of the butter. A tribute is due to Megrsß Boacawon and MacDonald, managers of the Te Kuiti and Aria Factories, for their efforts, and the settlers will not bo slow to recognise that in the persons mentioned they have officers of more than ordinary ability.
