EMPRESS THEATRE. The star film for change programme of the above theatre is entitled "Work of His Hands," and the film will be supported by an attractive programme, including "A Mistake in Fred Manning, the European buyer for a large department store, is engaged to Mabel Moore, who is a cashier in t.ie same place. He leaves for Europe via New York. At the first station out he telegraphs Mabel "I love you for ever." This arrives and is delivered, very much to the disgust of Mabel'? landlady, who is roused out of her bed; but Mabel goes to sleep with the telegram under her pillow. From New York he wires again the same message, but the operator, a new man, getT things mixed, and sends the telegram reading"! leave you for ever." She faints at the shock, while poor unsconscious Fred sails for Eurpoe. When it ia time for Fred to return, she sends all his letters, ring, and key of house, etc., back, care of firm Fred arrives and finds them. He gets her address, starts off to the health resort, sees Mabel, the mistake is explained, an i everything ends happily.
