MANGAPEHI (11) v. NEHENEHE (11). The whistle sounded at 3 p.m. sharp Nehenehe taking the kick-off, playing with the sun in their eyes. Charten's returned the ball and from close forward play J. Clarke secured and found the line with a good kick Well ii.to Nehe'a 25. From the line-out Nehe's forwards secured, taking the ball into black's territory, but a good save by Darlington prevented a scoret. Nehe were not to be denied, however, and Moaes securing scored near the corner. The shot at goal failed. Nehenehe 3, Mangapehi nil. From the 25 kick the ball went into touch. Close forward play followed, resulting in a scrum near the Mangapehi line. Brumby secured and found the line. The Mangapehi forwards took a hand from the throw-in, the ball coming out to Goodall, who made a fine run, transferring to Darlington, to W. Clarke, who cams near to a score, being grassed on Nehe'-s line. A scrum resulted from an infringement, and Nehe returned the ball into neutral territority. Clarke and A. Henderson returned sharply but lost a score through the ball being kicked too hard into dead ball country. Give and take play followed till Mangapehi was awarded a free kick neat Nehe's line. The kick at goal failed, and Nehe forced. Forward play followed, with Nehe pressing, J. Clarke and Goodall making some good saves. The Mangapehi backs made a good passing rush, but Henderson when tackled tailed to get the ball out, resulting in touch being found. Lining up J. Clarke secured, transferring to Cameron, to Darlington, who found touch. The whistle then sounded for halftime. Score: Nehenehe 3, Mangapehi 0. On resuming Brumby secured from a throw-in, and kicked high. Goodall following secured and made a lot of ground, but almost immeditely Nehenehe returned into black territory., From forward play Brumby headed a dribbling rush, from which A. Henderson secured, passing to T. Smith, who, though well tackled, managed to score. The kick at goal failed. Nehenehe 3, Mangapehi 3. Securing from the 25 kick the Nehe three-quarter made a good passing rush, but Goodall saved, returning to the centre of the field. Nehe again forced, but a free kick relieved Mangapehi. Forward play into Nehe territory necessitaed Nehe forcing to save a score. Give and take play followed, each side forcing to avoid trouble. Close forward play followed the kick-off, the ball eventually coming out to J. Clarke, who after making considerble ground transferred to Goodall who scored near the corner. Darlington failed with the kick. Mangagpehi 6, Nehe 3. From the kick-off Mangapehi returned into Nehe's ground, compelling them to force. Loos<3 play followed, from which Brumby secured and transferred to Charteris under Nehe's goal, where an easy try wa registered, Clarke converted. Mangapehi 11, Nehe 3. Securing from the kick-off the Nehe three-quarter line did some fine passing, Anderson scoring after a fine dodgy run. The kick at goal added 2 points. Mangipehill Nehe 8. Both teams now livened up considerably, and Nehe three-quarters again got going, Anderson scoring another nice try near Mangapehi's corner flag. The kick at goal failed. The game ended Mangapehi 11, Nehenehe 11. For Mangapehi J. Clarke stood out as the star performer, with Brumby and Goodall close up. In the forward division ■ Charteris, W. Clarke, A. Henderson, Smith, and Williams, all did good work. For the visitors Anderson showed good form, and their forwards appeared to have more combination than the local men Mr B. W. Hayson refereed the match in bjs usual efficient style.
