Inconnection with Mr Herdman's statement concerning the Police Association the latter have posted a preface to the rules oE the association in which it distinctly wishes it to be understood that the association is not formed in antagonism to the department, but rather with the idea of assisting to find the real grievances which exist in the service. It also urges the men to do their duly conscientiously. The association was not formed for political purpoaes, and had absolutely no connection with any other organisation, political or industrial.
