Newton King reports : On April 29th, for my Stratford bullock fair and cattle sale, I had a very big yarding of over 2500 head. A big number of three to four year bullockß were yarded, the entry of thia class of cattle being in the opinion of the southern buyers the best seen in Taranaki for many years. A particularly fine line of 130 three and a half year bullocks in very forward condition, Btraight from the Nukuhakere station (Awakino) were much admired and elicited keen competition being sold readily at £7 16s, £7 14s 6d, and £7 13s, good conditioned cows and bulls were in strong demand, some very nice pens of Jersey and Holstein weaner heifers were offered, the former selling up to £3 7s, and HolBteins up to £3 Bs. Other prices realised were as follows Mixed weaners 22s to 295, aged cows or small 12s to 455, store cows £5 Is to £5 15s, good conditioned bulls £5 la to £7 15s, email 26s to £4 5s empty twenty moi.ths coloured heifers £4 14s 6d, springing heifers £5 3 ss, springing cows £6 15s, coloured in calf heifres £5 17b 6d, two and a half year steers £4 15s to £4 sb, three year steers £5 10s to £5 17s, three and three and a half year bullocKS £6 5s to £6 14s. At Stony River on April 30th, there was a ogod entry and attendance, most line 3 selling at late market rates as follows —Weaner heifers 30b to 50s, emi ty twenty months heif erß £3 6s, wetner steers 30s to 32s 6d, mixed wetners 375, store cows 30s to £3 17s 6d, forward and fat fcows £4 to £6 9s, bulla 30s to .-55 2a 6d, forward two and a half year Bteert £5 4a, cuwa, guaranteed sound £4, Holstein in calf two and a half year heifers, choice line £9 9s 6d.
