THE BATTLESHIP VISIT.
TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS. In view of the large number of school children who will be joruneying to Auckland to visit the battleship New Zealand, the Railway Department has drawn up a schedule showing upon what days the children from the various country jchools Will be taken on to the raliway. In the King Country the children from Raurimu, Owhango, Kakahi, Piriaka, and Manunui are to be taken on May 3rd ; Taumarunui, Otenui, Taringamutu, and Mangapehi on May 7th; Ongarue, Kawa, and Kio Kio on May Bth; and Te Kuiti, Hangatiki and Otorohanga on May 9th. It should be noted that parents travelling with the children will require to pay the holiday excursion fares of 2d per mile first-class and Id per mile second-class. Special cars are to be nrovided for the children, and before being entraine.l the children are to be formed up and taken to the ears provided. The Government is arranging for the free transit of children together with teachers and committeemen from the wharf to the battleship, but it is desired to be clearly understood that parents will not be allowed to travel to the battleship by such steamers.
Day school excursion tickets will be issued free for teachers and scholars. Committeemen will, however, require to bear the expense of their own tic. kets at school excursion rates. Tickets must be obtained from stationmasters, or, when joining at flag stations, from the guard on the trains.
