PIO PIO..
Own Correspondent. Our monthly stock sale held here on Thursday last was somewhat disappointing in the prices offered. Although the yarding was very good competition was by no means keen, and it is evident that, ag is usual at this time of the year, the farmer is prepared to sacrifice stock and prepare tor the cold winter, which usually follows in the King Country. It is pleasing to note the rapidity in which the metal is being put on the road, and as the, fine weather continues, we are anticipating being able to drive through to Te Kuisi this winter with only the ordinary risks of accidents on the road. A basket social and dance, held here last Friday, proved a great draw. The hall was packed. The baskets sold handsomely, nearly £ll for 20 baskets. Dancing was kept up till early morning. It is plea3ing to know that a goodly sum was raised towards building a Cathoilc church here, this being the object of the entertainment.
