TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Thursday last. The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr G. H. Bullard) occupied the chair, and Messrs J. Heslop, J. Rattenbury and C. J. Ryan were also present. TRANSFERS. W. Graham to C. McGuinn, section 2, block 6, Mahoe. —Refused as residence required for transfer had not been fulfilled. L. R. Davis to P. Roberts and W. I. James, section 10, block 1, Waro, 1013 acres. —Postponed for further information. E. Jamieson to T. McGloin, section 9, block 6, Ohura, 378 acres. Approved. J. Winks to L. Winks, sections 6 and 7, block 6, Opaku. Approved. E. F. Gandy to Miss A. E. Hagenaon and Alfred Hagenson, section 5, block 6, Waro, 322 acres.—Approved. A. H. Ellicott to A. J. Williams, section 1, block 3, Tangitu.—Deferred for certain information. A. Harre to D. B. Stevens, section 11, block 8, Waro, and section 3, block 1, Pouatu. —Approved. Janet Eide to A. J. W. Allerby, section 4, block, Waro, 265 acres.—Held over for further inquiries. A. G. P., and F. S. Wallace (who are dissolving partnership) to A. G. P. Wallace, section 5, block 15, Opaku. —Approved. Official Assignee to R. G. Faulkner, sections 34 and 49, block 4, Whangamomona. —Approved. W. H. Sadlier to W. Moles, sections 18 and 19, block 2, Ngatimaru, 895 acres.—Postponed for further information.
P. T. Pederson to L. J. Astfworth, section 2, block 7, Upper Waitara.— Approved. J. G. Buchanan to J. H. Robson, sub-lease 5 acres of section 10, block 4, Ngatimaru, for a sawmill site. — Approved. L. Smith, subdivison of section 2, block 2, Mahoe, and transfer about 15 acres to A Agosteneli.—Agreed to. J. H. Hearn, subdivision of section 6. block 6, Aria, and transfer to W. S. Woof of 8 acres 1 rood 34 perches.— Agreed to. LAND FOR SELECTION.
It was decided to re-offer section 3, block 15, Ohura, for settlement at 55s per acre.
Section 3, block 9, Ngatimaru, is to be offered for selection at £3 15s per acre.
WHANGAMOMONA TOWNSHIP. Applications for year to year leases of sections in Whangamomona township were received aB follows :—Section 50, L. Klee and T. W. MIIIh; sections 38,'39, and 37. E. McCluggage; sections 27, 28, 29 and 30, and 1 or 3. P. M. Long; section*23, A. Dean.—lt was resolved to leave the matter in *be hands of Commissioner.
A schedule of sections in Whangamomona, sold by auction on March 25th was approved. EDUCATION RESERVES.
It was resolved that the improvements required to be effected on rural land under the Education Reserves lea 96 be put on the sam<* footing as Crown leases. THIRDS. A schedule of thirds was approved as follows:—Straford County Council, £B2 9s 5d and f£29 7s 7d; Waitomo County Council, £449 16s lOd; Egmont County Council, £2 12s 4d and £3O Is; Ohura County Councl, £291 16s 2d GENERAL. The casa of T. W. Moorby, selector, on section 8, block 16, Pouatu, who was called upon to show cause why his interest should not be forfeited, seeing that it was alleged that he was not using the section for his own use and benefit, and had allegedly allowed another person to squat on his land, was considered by the board. As a result it was decided to warn Moorby that he must fulfil the residence on his section.
A. S. Warren, holder of adjoining land, applied for part of section containing 67 acres, as his present area was not large enough.—Approved, at a valuation of 35s per acre. Section 36, block 14, Ohura, was allotted to John Mackay, the adjoining owner, at 60s per acre on O.R.P. R. Roth was granted 3 acres 0 roods 30 perches adjoining section 5, block 9, Ohura, at £2 10s per acre O.R.P. The application of Sidney Jones for section 3, block 2, Toroto, on a renewable lease was approved. The tender of J. F.Moor by was accepted for [the lease of section 10, block 16, Pouatu.
Consent was given to an amendment of t)\e area of section 5, block 9, Obura.
It was resolved that no action be taken with regard to the proposal to determine the lease of section 25, Heao and Waiwakaiho, held by H. F. Cane, provided he submitted a monthly report showing progress of eradication of blackberries.
It was resolved to cancel the license of N. Henderson for section 5, block 6, Mahoe, and re-offer the land. * It was decided to determine the timber license held by S. E. Meredith over Mangaroa township. S. Madgwick's license for section 6, block 5, Totoro, was cancelled, and it was decided to re-offer the land. It was decided to offer part of section 7, block 15. Ami, for sekctioa at £5 per acre weighted with the value of improvements. The next ordinary meeting of the board will >™ held on May 22nd, a week later than previously arranged.
