N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.

KIO KIO BRANCH. Own Correspondent. The third annual meeting of the above branch wa? held on Wednesday last in the new hall. The chairman's report showed that the branch had experienced a most successful year having been instrumental in effecting improvements in many diractions. The financial report showed a balance of £3 17s 4d. Messrs J. Cunningham, D. J. Cunningham, W. A. Seoun, T. A. Keating, E. St ace, and Hart were elected as members for the en3uing year, and it was reported that the membership, now forty-four, was likely to be still further increased The following officers were elected : —Chairman, Mr Cumpstone; vicechairmen, Messrß Budge and Hooper; secretary and treasruer, Mr W. Hudson; auditor, Mr Forster; executive committee, Messrs A. J. Ross, Budge, Walter Wylie, F. Ogle, Danks, Ellis, Cooper, and Hudson; conference delegate,Mr Hudson. The secretary waß directed to write to Mr J. A. Young. M.P., assuring him of the support of the branch in any endeavours which will make for an improvement in the conditions und9r which New Zealand butter is sold on the London market. The secretary was further instructed to comniunicate with the Waitomo County Council regarding the metalling loan, and to urge no that body the advisability of using river metal.

Correspondence from the County Council, statins that sign posts were to be erected on the main roads, was read.

The new hall, which was used on Wednesday for the first time, h to be opened formally on vVednesday, 23rd inst., by a dance and social evening. All arrangements are in the hands of strong sub-comittees, and everything points to a most enjoyable and sue' ccessful opening entertainment. The roads are in good condition so that, if the evening be fine, the attendance should be sufficient" to fufil the honaa
