TE KUITI GOLF CLUB.
A successful and well attended meeting of the Golf Club was held in the secretary's office on Saturday evening, Mr McCarthy being voted to the chair.
It was decided that the offer of Mr R. Somerville and Messrs Self and Cooper to form a links on the former's property be accepted with thanks and the secretary was instructed to write to each of these gentlemen, conveying the club's appreciation of their offer. The existing office-bearers were reelected, but a new committee, comprising the most enthusiastic of the players, was elected in place of last year's committee. It was decided to hold an opening day next Saturday week, when tea will be provided at the Tennis Club's pavilion, and several driving competitionsand other contests for an exhibition of skill will take place. The subscription for the coming season has been fixed at £1 Is for I men and 10s 6d for ladie3, and it is thought that the possession of a fine 9-hole course will fully justify the increased subscription. There is no doubt that golf is rapidly taking front place as the favourite winter game in Te Kuiti, and it is hoped before long that matches may be held with other clubs when the Te Kuiti players may be expected to hold their own.
We are authorised to •state that the committee hopes that all members and their friends will turn up at the opening day. ...
