OTOROHANGA.
Own Correspondent. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Otorohanga Town Council was held last Monday. Present Messrs C. Elliott, chairman, W. Vicary and J. Ormsby. It was decided to make an application to the Advances to Local Bodies Board for a loan of £205, being 10 per cent, on the former loan to finish off the metalling of streets, Mr Vicary gave notice to move at a special meeting to declare docks, gone and oxeye daisy as noxious weeds within the meaning of the Act.
Mr Glenning is to take over Mr Watkins' contract for the removal of night soil and to commence duties at once.
Messrs Scowan and Kleiss were granted exemption owing to living upon very large suburban sections. Mr Hall's application for exemption did not meet with approval ow ing to hia dwellings being on a small section.
A building permit was granted to Mr Willis to erect an auctioneer's store in Tuhora street. A permit was also granted Mr R. Ormsby for alterations and additions to a dwelling.
The clerk was instructed to write to try and arrange a meeting with the chairman of the Waitomo County Council and Cr Gregg and the Town Board to come to an agreement, with reference to a public pound outside the township boundary. The loan money account showed a credit balance of £236 12s 7d, and accounts to the amount of £143 were passed for payment.
