AUSTRALIAN LABOUR TROUBLES.
■ ♦ - - - ■ JUDGE'S STRAIGHT TALK. By Telegraph.—Press Association.- Gopyrislit, Received April 11, P-m. Sydney, Friday. In the Arbitration Court Mr Justice Heydon, in refusing an application to vary an award, severely criticised the attitude of unions to one another. The application showed how far they would go to get boards constituted to suit themselves without regard for anyone else. Specialising a certain caae, he said if the board were constituted which suited applicants, it was "What a fair court; what a just judge!" But if they were not suited then it was "What an injustice; what an outrage; we have been refused a tribunal to redress our grievances; we will strike." Such iB the love, and such the mercy rival unions show each other. ANOTHER MINE CLOSING. y OVER 5000 MEN OUT. Received this day, 10 a.m. Sydney, This Day. Block Ten, Broken Hill, is closing ! to-night owing to a shortage of supplies, making five thousand one hundred men out. Only three mines will then be working. An effort to utilise bullock and horse teams for the conveyance of provisions from Cockburn failed and camels are to be tried next. THE BARRIER STRIKE. FEDERATION'S TERMS REFUSED Received this day, 10 a.m. Sydney, This Day. The Barrier Labour Federation decided to telegraph to the tramway directors asking whether they agreed to the Federation's terms. Failing a reply the dispute is to be referred to the Industrial Board. The men will remain out until the board's decision
is given. Although nothing official has been stated it is believed the company's reply to the first part of the question will bo an emphatic negative.
