The Wellington races will be concluded to-day. Results up to time of going to presa were—Second Steeplechase —Sunray 1, Karimoi 2, Grit Lawless 3. Hutt Handicap—Negative 1, Falsetto 2, Stepney 3. An armoured tyre which ia giving excellent aervice in trials at present conducted by the Royal Automatic Club of Great Britain is the Stolastic, manufactured in Westminster. The carcase of the tyre resembles the ordinary pneumatic, but in the tread are interwoven a series of spiral springs, which offer an absolutely impenetrable shield to nails, glass, and tacks, besides prolonging the life of the tyre by reason of their great tensile strength. There are no less than 90,000 of these small springs in a 3(5 by 5 tyre, and the only thing that can penetrate this armour is a long thin nail (part of a hatpin) entering at just the right angle to slip between the coils of the spring. It is also claimed that the tyre does not get heated so quickly, as the steel springs disseminate the beat over larger area.
