A special meeting of the Loyal Te Kuiti Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was held on Wednesday evening to meet the Prov. G.M. Bro. Dean, N.G. Bro. H. O. Barker presiding over a large attendance of members. Bro. Dean addressed the meeting on various matters affecting the welfare of the Order, and during his remarks mentioned that the New Zealand branch of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows has now a membership of over 24,000, with accumulated funds of over £700,000. The Auckland dis trict has a membership of over 4000 and funds exceeding £IOO,OOO. In the Government Actuary's last report he congratulates the society on it strong financial position, and the M.U.1.0.0.F. is to-day in the proud position of being the foremost Friendly Society in the World. Advice has been received that the Te Kuiti lodge has won the shield presented bv the Auckland district to the lodge in their area ' gaining the largest percentage increase of membership daring 1912. The medal presented to the member gaining the largest number of new members during the same period also comes to this lodge, P.G. Bro. Rutherford being the successful member. This is very gratifying to the lodge to gain these honours, and considering that there are over 40 lodges and over 4000 members to compete against it will show the amount of interest members take in lodge matters.
