Newton King reports: At Rahotu on March 25th, I had a good entry and attendance with keen bidding for all lines. Some well grown pens of weaner steers were yarded and sold up to 425. Prices obtained were:—Best mixed weaners 32s to 355, small 19s to 23s 6d, coloured waaner heifers £2 10b, good weaner steei'S 36s 6d to 425, small or bad coloured lis to 17s Gd, heifers and calves £3 13s to £5 Bs, empty heifers £3 10s, coloured eighteen months steers. £2 14s to £3 2s 6d, two and a half year steers £5 Is, in calf twenty months heifers £3 15s, bulls £4 15s to £7 4s, store cows £2 to £3 12s, forward cows £4 2s to £4 18s, fat cows £6 10s, lambs, small 6s 6d to 6s lOd, unbroken filly £lO ss, three year filly £9 10s. At Urenui on March 26th, both cattle and sheep came forward in excess of advertised numbers. The sheep on account of D. McKellar's estate were all cleared A good line of full-mouthed ewes realised lis sd, culls 3s to 6s 7d, two to six tooth wethers 14s 7d, rams 7s to 13s 6d, competition for other sheep was very quiet. Good in-calf heifers and weaners were in improved demand. Most of the entry was cleared as follows: Weaner heifers 3s to 45s line of weaner steers with three yearlings 465, fair lines 265, small 27s 6d, fifteen months steers £2 lis 6d to £2 18s 6d, springing heifers £4 10s to £5 ss, three and a half year and four year bullocks in forward condition £6 10s 6d, two and a half year steers £5 2s 6d to £5 6s, in-calf Holstein twenty months heifers £5 16s, in-calf grade twenty months heifers £3 18s to £4 2s, bulls £2 lis to £2 17s 6d, stags £3 17s, aged cows 255, store ( cows £3 2s to £3 lis, forward cows '£4 to £4 17s 6d, fat cows £5 17s to £5 18s 6d, empty twenty months heifers £3 12s 6d, lambs 5s 4d to 8s 6d, f.m. ewes 8s 9d to 10s Id, two and a half year incalf heifers £5 to £5 3s.
