MAROKOPA.
Own Correspondent. DAIRYING. The monthly meeting of directors of the Marokopa Dairy Company was held on Tuesday. Cheques to approximately £SO were passed for payment and wag considered very satisfactory for'this time of the year. It is hoped to be able to keep the factory running until the middle oE May. SPORTS. The annual sports, held by the Marokopa Athletic Club on Friday of last week proved a great success. The event proved a splendid holiday for settlers of which there was a large gathering from many miles around. The most popular events of the day were the horse swimming and tilting at the ring. The running events provided keen competition, and reflected considerable credit on the handicapper, Mr. E. McGrath. The chopping events was well contested and proved that the handicapper Mr J. Smith, kneWtthe men he had to deal with. The programme was splendidly carried out, for which the chairman of committee, Mr J. Willison, and the secretary, Mr R. M. Dunn, aided by a willing committee, w-ra responsible The judges,' Messrs P. C. Rose and P. W. Bell, gave every satisfation. whilst the referee, Mr J. Kinnaine, did his duty admirably. G. Richards was loudly applauded for his winning of the ladies' bracelet. Tupu, in the various events, attracted considerable admiration for his consistency, and was successful in annexing the points prize. B. McGrath gave an excellent exhibition by the splendid manner in which he won the quarter and half mile events. Results: —

A most successful dance was held in the evening in the Public Hall, at which there was ra large attendance. During the evening Mr P. C. Rose presented to the winners the various trophies donated. Several songs and recitations were contributed.
