In reply to a query from Sir Rider Haggard when in Taranaki, as to the price of dairying land in the district, a Hawera man mentioned that a sale of a Waimate Plains farm a £BO per acre had been recently reported, and that £6O to <£7o per acre for farms in that locality was not uncommon.
