TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Thursday. Present—Messrs Bullard, in the chair, and Heslop and Rattenbury. TRANSFERS.G. L. Kaspar applied for permission to tranfser section 11, block 4, Ngaere 116 acres, Clandon Settlement, to Harry Simson. The improvements and residence had been complied with. Mr Simson attended and asked to amend his application for transfer to himself and T. C. G Simson. He also submitted a written statement of his financial position.—Approved. D. W. Mcßae and H. W. Howie applied to transfer section 2, block 1, Ohura, 1855 acres, to H. W. Howie and J. N. Brown. —All the conditions had been fulfilled and the application was approved. G. H. and A. Kaspar applied to transfer section 24, block 2, Ohura, 259 acres, to H. Kaspar.—Approved. J. and B. Davey applied to transfer section 4, block 1, Pouatu, to J. Davey and C. E. Morton. —Approved.
T. and T. H. G. W. Thompson applied to transfer section 4, block 3, Waro, 346 acres, to T. H. G. W. Thompson. —Approved. P. T. Pederson applied to transfer section 2, block 6, Upper Waitara, 600 acres, to L. J. Ashworth. —Deferred for ranger's report, applicant to appear before the board at next meeting. Mr Pederson subsequently appeared in support of his application, and it was resolved under the circumstances of ill-health of the lessee to approve of the application, subject to satisfactory report on the whole case by the ranger. J. Hanley applied to transfer section 8, block 2, Heao, 200 acres, to H. and F. Craven—.Refuse].
R. J. Cock applied to transfer section 198, town of New Plymouth, one rood, to A. G. Wigley.— Approved. D. A. Dickson applied to transfer section 5, block 3, Mahoe, 1059 acres, to J. C. and A. V. Moss. —Postponed to enable transferees to attend, and ranger to report on improvements.
W. B. and D. M. and J. H. and G. C. Smith applied to transfer to W. B. and D. M. and J. M. Smith sections 15, 16, 17. block 4, Omona, and 8, block 1, Taurakawa, 798 acres.— Approved. A. Coxhead.. junr., applied to transfer section 4. blocK 9, Pouatu, to G. L. Bacon, 322 acres.—Approved. A. J. Kirkham, applied to transfer section 14, block 4, Omona, 200 acres, to T. F. and F. Rooney. Postponed until next meeting, the lessees and transferrecs to attend and ranger to report. B. M. Kirkham applied to transfer sections 7 and 13, block 4, Omona, 440 acres, to the same persons.—Resolved to postpone until next meeting, the parties to attend and ranger to report. R. Kidd applied to sub-let section 16, block 9, Totoro, 200 acres, to P. Hegglin.—Left in hands of commis sioner to approve if satisfied.
IMPROVED FARM SETTLEMENT LICENSES-. Applications for issue of improved farm settlement licenses were granted as follows:—Section 17, block 11, Mapara, H. F. Kirk; section 13, block 11, Mapara, J. C. Donnelly section 9, block 11, Mapara, E. Brake. COMPLETION OF PURCHASE. It was reported that A. C. Perfect had completed payment of puchase of L.I.P. of section 10, block 10, Ohura. Issue of title recommended, Resolved that board certify to the Minister that the lessee is entitled to a Crown grant in terms of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912. RANGER'S REPORT. Ranger Meredith reported that he had inspected 14 holdings in Mapara settlement. Area, 2368 acres. Required improvements £700; effected £6Bll. No defaulters.—Accepted. EXPENDITURE OF THIRDS. Proposals for expenditure of thirds were approved as follows: Okato Road Board, £ls 10s 9d; Egmont County Council, £34 13s 4d. GENERAL. H. R. Farmer applied for section 67, block 10, Mimi, 250 acres, on O.R.P. system.—Mr Farmer attended, and the application was approved. F. E, Thompson applied for exemption from residence on section 12, block 2, Heao, 328. —Resolved to take no action re non-residence during absence of lessee in Australia.
T. A. Bradley applied for time to effect improvements on section 4, block 5, Mahoe, 900.—Resolved that he be given until March, 1914, to make up deficient improvements M. L. Gaustad was reported nonresident on section 5, block 13, Upper Waitara, 476 acres. The explanation was not considered satisfactory, and it was resolved that he be given three months to reside or forfeit, or show sufficient reason for transfer or forfeit his interest
It was decided to grant a lease of section 15, block 13, Waro. 3ac. Or. 37p. to A. W. and H. Kempt for a term of 21 years at annual rent of 10s under subsection 7 of section 8 of "The Public Bodies Leaseß Act, 1908." It was resolved to offer section 11, block 3, Aria, 42a. lr. 34p. for selection under Part 3, of "The Lands Act, 1908," at a valuation of £3 10s per acre weighted with improvements to the value of £55.
It was agreed to grant F. Barnett's application for a temporary lease of parts of sections 8 and 14, Aria suhurban, at the ranger's valuation pending a decision as to disposal of all unoccupied land in the locality.
