HON. W. H. HERRIES' VISIT.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR RECEP TION. Tb3 committee set up for the purpose of arranging for the reception of the Hon. W. H. Herries to Te Kuiti met at the County council Chamber last night. His Worship the Mayor presided. The secretary announced that he had received notice of deputations from Whare Hotu and other natives in respect to vested native lands, G. Elliott, from settlers at Kio Kio in respect to a railway crossing, from Moeatoa settlers and from Messrs Boddie ard others with respect to the Government acquiring Tokipohuki. It was decided that the committee bring before the Minister the matter of township tenure, and the roading of native lands.

Mr C. K. Wilson, member for the district sent an apology for his absence from the meeting, and stated would be at the service of the committee during the following day. The Mayor announced ,witb regret that he would be unable to be present to receive the Minister as he had urgent business calls which could not be disregarded. Mr Mostyn Jones was appointed to act in place of the Mayor, and in the unavoidable absence of the County chairman to preside at the banquet. Messrs Lusk, Somerville and Graham were appointed to draw up a toast list. The Minister is to arrive by the 4 o'clock train from Auckland, and will be received at the station by Mr Wilson, member for the district, and representatives of the county and borough councils and the Chamber of Commerce. After the reception the Minister will receive deputations at the borough chambers, and in the evening will be entertained at a banquet in the Municipal Hall. Mr Herries will leave Te Kuiti on Thursday morning by the 11.40 train for Taumarunui.
