The Now Zealand Shipping Company's etoamor Turakina caught llro here yesterday. The fire started in a cross-bunker in tho lowor hold, nt a spot where it w»3 difficult Co reach. Despite all attempts to keep it in check the blaze spread from the bunker to the insulated holds, where huge quantities of butter wore stored. Included in tho cargo taken by tho Turakina was a consignment of 2.1,7.'?7 boxes of butter and 400 crates of cheese from Auckland. This represented the output, for tho province for the second week in January, and was taken from Onehunga to Wellington for transhipment to tho steamer by the Union Company's s.s. Corinna. The estimated value of the shipment, f.o.b. at Auckland, wan about £60,000.
