ENGLISH SHEEP IN THE BALKANS.
At the annual meeting of the Farmers' Club, in London, Prof. Wrightaon said that there promised to be an excellent opening for English breeds of sheep in the Balkan States when, as they hoped, Christian rule would supersede that of the Turk. They hoped to S9e a wonderful development of sheep farming, which was characteristic of Lower Hungary and the adjacent territory, go down to Thrace and Macedonia. There was a great scope for sheep farming in the countries named, because they presented proper ground, and the people were natural sheep farmers. English sheep already had a footing there, and they were esteemed in the pure form and also for crossing purposes.
