Dalgety and Company, Limited, report:—
We held our monthly sale in the Ohura yards on February 22nd. when we had a full yarding and all lines offered changed hands. We quote:— three and a half year steers £6 sa, three year steers £5 10s to £5 15s, eighteen months to two year steers £3 15s to £4, two year heifers £4, eighteen months heifers £3 to £3 10s, shorn lambs 8s 6d, f.m. ewes 8s lOd to 10s.
We held our sale in the Te Anga yard on February 25th, when we had a fair yarding. Competition was keen and all lines offerd changed hands. We held our fortnightly sale in the Ohaupo yards on February 25th, and had an average yarding when moßt of the lines offered changed hands.
We held our annual ram fair in the Ohaupo yards on February 27th, when we had a fair yarding of all classes of rams. Bidding was dull for all classes, with tne exception of Shropshire and Southdowns for which there was a good demand. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At Ohaupo on February 27th, the annual ram fair was held, our entry totalling 800. The demand was only fair; a few good Romneys sold well, but for the majority of this breed lgn to 2gns only was obtainanle. Lincolns sold well, as also did Southdowns and Shropshires, but only a few of the latter two breeds came forward. English Leicesters met a fair sale. Lincoln rams made 3gn to sgne>, lgn to 2gns for second class sheep; English Leicesters Hgns to 3gns, best Rom neys 3gns to sgns, a few from Mr E. Short made sgns to 7gns; Southdowns Sgns to sgns; Shropshires 2gns to 4gns, aged rams hardly saleable. At Te Kuiti yards on February 28th, we had a full yarding of sheep and cattle, in addition 20 draught horses, six tip drays and a lot of harness, contractors' tools and sundries; the Btock consisting of 616 head of cattle and 3153 shaep. Practically the whole lot were disposed of at auction. We quote:—Fat and forward woolly lambs 8s 9d to lis 4d, good shorn lambs 7s 6d to 8a 3d, choice four tooth ewes 16s 7d, small framed but healthy two touth ewes 12s 6d to 13s 3d, good framed four, six and eight tooth ewes 12s 6d to 13s 9d, sound mouth ewes 9s Gd to 12s, aged ewes 7s to 9s, four tooth wethers 15s to 16s, two tooth wethers 13s 3d to 14s 6d, fat cows £5 10s to £6 10s, fat steers £7 17s 6d to £S 12s, two and a half to thr.ee year steers £5 5s to £5 15s, two to two and a half year steers £4 10s to £5, eighteen months steers £3 15s, store cows £3 53 to £3 15s, in calf heifers £4 to £4 10s, eighteen months heifers £3 5s to £3 15s, medium draught horses £22 to £3O 10s, heavy draught horses £3O to £4O, tip drays, £lO to £l2, harness and sundries usual rates
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—
On February 27th in conjunction with the Farmers' Auctioneering Company and Messrs Dalgety and Co., we held our annual ram fair in the Ohaupo yards. There was a big entry of all classes of ramß from southern and local breeders, and we have to report a fairly successful sale. Shropshires were eagerly sought after and Lincolns found ready sale. Romneys (a big entry) showed a tendency to drag with the exception of rams of really good class. Lnicolns from Messrs Bremer, Storey, Crago, and others made from 2Jgns to 33gns, others 2gns to 2£gns, Romneys from 21 to 2£gns, English Leicesters to 2gns, Border Leicesters 2£gns to 3gns, Shropshires 4gnis to 6gns, others to 2|gns, aged rams 15s to 255.
We held our Ruanui stock sale as follows—Lambs (is to 6s 4d, cull lambs 3s Gd to 4s Id, sound mouth ewes 9s 9d to 10s, cull ewes 6s to 7s 7d, rams 2gns to 2£gns, fat ewes
14s 6d to 15s Id, two tooth ewes 10s 4d to lis 4d. The associated auctioneers held a special sale at the Rangitiki A. and P. Show of stock exhibited by Mr T. A. Duncan. The average price for Romney ewes and lambs, all counted, was ljgns, Mr A. Gibbs purchasing the whole line. The average price for Shorthorn cattle was 17Jgns.
HIGH COMMISSIONERS' GABLE,

The High Commissioner's cable, dated London March Ist, is as follows, quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot: — Mutton. —The market is weaker, and has a tendency downward. Canterbury 4|d, North Island 4|d. Lamb. —The market is quiet. Canterbury 6Jid, other than Canterbury 6d.
Beef„ —The market is dull. New Zealand hindquarters 3§d, fores 3Jd. Butter. —-The market is quiet but steady. There is a general and active demand for beat quality. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand is 117s, salted, 119s unsalted; Australian Ills, Argentine 110s, Danish 1335, Siberian 110s.
Cheese —The market is firm. The average price for the week for finest New Zealand cheese is 60s 6d.
Hemp.—The market is very quiet, and no business is being done. The market is dependent on Manila reports. New Zealand good fair grade £33, fair grade £3l; fair current Manila £33 10s, forward shipment at the same prices. The output from Manila for the week was 28,000 bales. Wool. —The market is firm at an advance.
