SCOTT COMMITTEE'S APPEAL.
i NEW ZEALAND'S SYMPATHY. Marten, Wednesday. The Prime Minister. Hon. W. F. Maasey, has received the following cablegram from the editor of the Daily Telegraph, London :—" Responding to Captain Scott's appual, the Telegraph opens to-day a National Scott Memorial Fund, and the editor would welcome a commonding the fund to public oupport." The Prime Minister replied:—"l feel confident that Captain Scott's dying appeal will meet with generous response from the citizens of the Empire, and that adequate provision will bo'forthcoming for the widows and families of: those, wno have lost their lives for the glory of thu Liritiah flap, an,! who have gone U) <l " > ' r deaths in a manner worthy of the best traditions of our race. New Zealand shares in the,universal regret." Mr Massey has also requested the Governor to send a cablegram to the Secretary of State, expressing tha sympathy of the Government and the people.
