PASTORAL RUNS.
CONFERENCE OF COMMISSIONERS. BEFORE END OF THIS MONTH. JHY TF.LWJIt.UMI. ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Tuesday. All the Commissioners of Crown Lands will meet in Wellington at the suggestion of Ui« Hon Mr Massay, Minister of Lands, to discuss a number of matters relating to :h1 ministration of the Crow;] estate. When Mr Massey was questioned by a Star correspondent as to tiva Government's intentions regarding the Moutere runs in Central Otago, which local settlers consider should be more closely subdivided, the Prime Mi:;inter replied that ho had withdrawn those runs from the market. Probably they would ho withdrawn for a year, so that if legislation was found necessary it could bo passed next session. Some runs would require, to be rechwsifiod. This applied also to Home Canterbury runs ready for renewal. Ho thought it wiser to hold up the process for a year rather than tie up the runs for 21 years before legislation relating to pastoral licenses could he passed.
