CRICKET.
k striking performance was recorded in a cricket match played at Pio Pio on January 29th, whsn the suburbs dismissed the township batsmen for the toal of six runs. Five runs were secured by the bat and one was a bye. The suburbs replied with seveny-five and the "townies" probably wondered what they had done to deserve it.
The Pio Pio team is very anxious to try conclusions with Te Kuiti, and has offered to come to Te Kuiti arid play an all-day match on Saturday, February 15th. Arrangements have been, made by the Pio Pio players in anticipation of the acceptance of their challenge, and there is no doubt the Te Kuiti players will respond in the manner desired. It is suggested that the game start at 11 o'clock in the morning in order to get in as much play as possible. The Pio Pio team will be chosen from the following:— H. Smith, G. Brown, G. Elliott, T. Smith, G. Smith, W. Butcher, A. Neil W. Neil, Muir, Herrold, Tunnicliffe. It is gratifying to see the interest displayed by the country players, who find it difficult to travel for their cricket. Most of the Pio Pio players are milking and will have to pay men to take their places while away.
