By the goodness of Mr Cheal, surveyor, and of Mr Curtis, a plan of the proposed rifle range is now forward for the approval of the defence authorities. Matters should soon assume definite shape, and members may look forward to hearing more at an early date. Farmers in the lower end of the King Country will be pleased to hear that they will be afforded the chance of buying or selling their stock in their midst as Messrs F.R. Jackson and Co. have again commenced sales in their Raurimu yards. Particulars of trie first sale on February 6th will be found in another column. On January 21st., the New Zealand Dairy Association distributed amongst its suppliers the sum of £68,499 Is 9d. This payment covered butter fat supplied during the month of December. The corresponding payment last year was £49,844 2s 4d. Thus, the increase for the month aa compared with last year is £18,655 14b sd. The members of the medical profession in Te Kuiti have drawn up a scale of charges and this scale should assist the public, as all members will be working to arrangement. Mr B Wolff has resigned the position of secretary of the Te Kuiti Dairy Co. owing to other engagements. Arransements are being made for re-opening of Kuiti College on February 10th. Miws Brown will be assisted by Misa I. Willon, who has been thromrh her degree course at Auckland University College, and is also to ro:ich up to Junior Civil Service and Matriculation standard in folowing subjects: English, Latin, French. German, Physiology * Owing to a "terrible storm" in the b-'tckblocks the delegates at the Backhlncks conference were unable to leave Ohura until the weather moderated.
