TE KUITI MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
WEDNESDAY, 23rd JANUARY, 1912. Before Mr E. Rawson, S.M. The first sitting of the nowly appointed magistrate to the district, waß held at Te Kuiti to-day. Mr Hine, as senior member of the profession, welcomed Mr Rawson to the district, his remarks being supplemented by Messrs Sharpies, Howarth and Finlay. His Worship suitably responded. Referring to the work of the 'court he intimated that if it was found imposssible to get through the business with monthly sittings he would use his beßt endeavours to arrange for fortnightly sittings at Te Kuiti. UNLABELLED LIQUOR.
Alfred Nord, charged with having an unlabelled bag containing Beven bottles of whisky and one bottle of beer in his posssession, did not ap pear. A fine of £2 and costs 7s.
Police v. McCarthy, failing to notify the clerk of the court in the proper manner. Ten charges.—Fined £1 and costs on each charge. CRUELTY TO A HORSE. A man named Rutter, charged wtih cruelty to a horse at Mangapehi, was fined Is and costs.
