Newton King reports:—
On 3rd inst. I had a fair entry in my Rahotu yards, and, considering the sale being held on an off day, there was a good attendance of buyers. Competition throughout was very keen, all stock selling at advanced rates as follows: '• — Grade fifteen to eighteen months heifers £3 7s to £4 5s for a very choice line, eighteen months steers with a bit of colourj£3 Is to £3 175,6 d, was obtained for a well-grown pen of Shorthorns, fat cows £5 8s 6d to £5 16s, forward store* £4 4a to £4 8s 6d, bulls £2 4s to £3 Is, spriging heifers £4 5s to £5 12s 6d.
At Stratford on Tuesday, 7th inst. there was only a small yarding but a very large attendance of buyers from all.parts. Bidding throughout was brisk, everything being cleared during the day at the following rates: — Eighteen months heifers, empty £3 8s 6d to £3 lis, eighteen months heifers r.w.b. £3 15s 6d to £4 7s, springing heifers £5 12s 6d to £6 12s 6a, bulls £3 to £5, store cows', small or aged. £2 7s 6d to £3 la, forward cows £4 13s 6d to £5 3s, fat cows in demand £5 lsi 6d to £6 Bs, a small pen of Shorthorn mixed weaners realised 345.
