ORDINATION SERVICE.

REVS. PIGGOT AND HEKE. The ordination service held in Auckland laat Saturday, by the Bishop of Auckland, was of special interest to many living in the King Country for the Revs. W. J. Piggot and H. R. Heke were among those ordained. The deacons made were Messrs K. Poata and 11. Karaka, and the priests ordained the Revs. G. H. Gavin, G. T. Rcbaon, A. Drake, W. J. Piggot and H. R. Heke. From the previous Wednesday evening the candidates had been the guests of the Bishop and Mrs Crossiey, and on Friday night a quiet day was brought to a close by service in the Bishopscourt Chapel, when the Bishop gave his charge. He took for the subject of his address, words from the Charge in the Ordering of Priests, "And now again we exhort you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you have in remembrance, into how high a dignity and how weighty an office and charge: that is to say to be messengers, watchmen and stewards of the Lord." Messengers of the Sing of Kings, sent with authority from Jenus Christ "As My Father hath sent Me even so send I you." They must feel that their mesagse was not their own they must be very diligent for the King's business was urgent. In manner of life, in speech, and even in dress, men should be able to tell that their business was not of this world. It should be clear that they had been with Jesus. Watchmen. They ha.l the Bible truth to guard. The Sacraments of Christ to keep just as they were first delivered to the Church. They needed to be armed for this. He recalled the words of St. Paul, "Put on the whole armour of God," watchmen over the mysteres of the Gospel. Ever fully armed, ever watchful, lest any fall through their neglect. And stewards. A steward was entrusted with his Master's estate, not only to keep for Him, but to distribute to those who needed their Master's food. So they must not only preach in church and be ready with the Holy Sacraments for all. who come to them, but seek for all who need, in the lanss and by-ways of the Lord's vineyard. And as he exhorted them to be messengers, and watchman and stewards, one felt again, as one had felt before, that his words were those of one with a message of power from Him Who said "He who hearech you heareth Me " On Saturday morning many clergy gathered at St. Sepulchre's Church for the ordination service. Among these were the Bishop of Melanesia and his ,chaplain, and Archdeacon Comins, a veteran among missionaries. Those who actually took part in the ordinaKion were the Bishop of Auckland, Archdeacons Ca.lder and Hawkins, ReV3. W. E. Lush and W. E. Gillam (Bishops chaplains) the Rev. W. E. Monckton (examining chaplain), the Rev. Canon Richards. Rev. E. S. Wayne and Rev. C. Watson, who preached the sermons. After the Bishop had given the candidates his solemn charges, he laid his hands on the deacons, and then the five priests were ordained. The Bishop and the clergy laying their handa on each candidates' head, one by one, after the example of the Apostles, and each Was handed a Bible by the Bishop, while he said the words, "Take thou authority to preach the Word of God and minister the Holy Sacraments in the congregation where thoushalt be lawfully appointed thereunto. The very solemn service closed with the Holy Communion. Mr Piggot has returned to Otorohanga, where he will continue his work, and Mr Heke to Te Kuiti to pursue his ministry among the Maoris.
