That the members of the Te Kuiti Cricket Club are intent on leaving no stone unturned to secure a successful season is evidenced by the attendance at practice. The members of the club had a side game last Thursday afternoon, Married v. Single, and good form was displayed by both teams. At every opportunity the members of the club attend on the Domain for practice. The material is always on the ground on Thursday and Saturday afternoons for practice.

At a meeting of the Druids' Lodge, held on Monday evening. Bro. Fletcher, P. A., was presented with a sash, which had rjeen generously donated by Bro. Simpson, for hawing introduced the greatest number of candidates for initiation to the Lodge during the past six months. Bro. Finlay made the presentation, Bro. Fletcher responding in a suitable manner. For the ensuing half year Bro. Finlay offered a prize for the best paper on "Ancient Druidism,' and Bro. Fletcher offered a sash similar to the one presented to him for the brother who gained the greatest number of candidates for initiation.

Some idea of the growth of dairying in the district may be obtained from the 'act that the Pio Pio factory has for the past month been putting out four times the quantity of butter as compared with the output for the same period of last season The increase is due to the greater number of suppliers, and also to a large extent to the marked improvement in the herds of the district.

The chairman of the School Committee (Mr Walsh) wishes us to thank Hayward's Enterprises, Ltd., for th°ir generosity in handing over the sum of £4 Bs, part proceeds of picture show in aid of "garden fund being raised by the school children.

Seeing that such schools as Hamilton, Cambridge, Flat Bush, Point Chevalier and others are engaged in the competition the successful competitor will be entitled to considerable kudos.

The annual examinations were held at the Te Kuiti public school last week by Inspector Burnside. Seventeen candidates sat for proficiency certificates, which entitle the holders to free tuition at a secondary school, and of the number twelve were successful.

A very unique and interesting little flower and cake fair is being arranged for the development of home industries among the school children, and will no doubt be well supposed by parents and guardians. A great feature of the fair will be novelties of designs in flowers, more especially wild flowers. It is claimed by the promoters, and very rightly so, that children require to have their attention drawn more distinctly to the beauty of nature's flower garden. A good musical programme has been arranged, and a very pleasant evening may be expected in St. Luke s Hall on Monday, December 30th, at 7.30 p.m. Mr Graham will sell on Saturday at the mart poultry, gooseberries, potatoes, gig, hack, also a lot of general furniture, as well as a choice section.

Members and adherents of the Presbyterian Church are asked to note that there will be no public meeting in the church on Thursday evening as notified on Sunday, but a meeting of the officers of the church on Friday at 7.30 p.m. to meet the Commission of Presbyterian Visitation.
