Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:— We held our special horse fair in the Te Awamutu saleyarda on Monday and Tuesday last., when more than the advertised number of horses came forward. There was a fair attendance of buyers, but heavy rain interferred with the sale, and bidding was dull for everything except young and sound sorts for which good prices were realised. We quote: Unbroken medium draughts £2l 10a to £25, unbroken hacks and harness sorts £8 to £l2, unbroken ponies and squibs 9s to 255, draught foals £5 to £lO, three and four year heavy draughts £32 10a to £4O, six and seven year draughts £2 to £5, aged draughts £lB to £26 10s, medium draughts £l3 5s to £2l 10s, hacks £8 to £l6 ss_, harness horse £6 15s to £9 10s, ponies £1 to £5 15s. We held our weekly sale in the Hamilton yards on Thursday, when we had an average yarning. Bidding was good for fat cattle, store cows and weaners. Empty heifers and yearlings were dull of sale. We quote:—Fat bullocks, light weights £8 17s, fat cows £5 12s 6d to £6 13s, fat heifers £5 14s to £5 19s, forward empty cows £4 5s to £5 9s, empty cows in poor condition £ll 9s- to £3 2s 6d, cows with calves £4 15s to £6 14s; yearling steers £2 lis to £3 2s, yearling to 18 month heifers £3 2s to £3 18s 6d, weaner calves 20s to 355, vealers £2 17s, Jersey bulls £?. 2s to £4 14s, Shorthorn bulls £3 16s to £4 4s, heifera close to profit £5 103 to £7, fat ewes 13s 6d to 16s, fat lambs lis to 14s, porkers ?.7s 6d to 345, slips 16s 6d to 20s, horse, saddle and bridle £6 17s 6d.
