PHILIPPINES TYPHOON.
MANY THOUSANDS HOMELESS MANY VESSELS SUNK.

The steamer Eastern brings details of the typhoon in the Philippines at the end of October. The blow was the worst for many years, 400 being killed and 5,000,000 pasor worth of damage to property caused. Many vessels were sunk, and thousands of houses were destroyed. The barracks were damaged and the hospitals dismantled. The patients were conveyed through the hurricane in driving rain to'raihvay cars. Tens of thousands, including many Americans, are homeless. The typhoon was accompanied by a tidal wave, which tore up and destroyed the railways in many places.
