LITTLE IN-BETWEEN MEALS.
There is a regular fetish among a certain type of women -against eating between meals. Have you ever heard women pronounce with virtuous air: "I never permit anyone in my family to eat one bite between meals." As is the way with the consciously virtuous the world over, the possibility of making a mistake does not occur to them. Yet many people need small and frequent meals rather than large ones at stated times. This is well understood by doctors. There are children and grown people whose capacity is so small that they are not nourished if they must live up to the "three meals a day and not another bit" ruling. Don't permit your children to stuff sweets, nuts, cake, or even bread and butter at any time they wish. But if your boy comes to you saying he is hungry, especially if he be a light eater at meals, depend upon it he knows what, he is talking about.
