King Country Chronicle SATURDAY, NOV. 16, 1912 HOSPITAL COMMITTEE'S REPORT.

The report furnished to tho Waikato Hospital Board by tho committee appointed to inquire into King Country conditions is essentially a common sense document, and should moot with the appreciation of ho tilers in various parts of the district. As pointed out in the report no exception can be taken to the wish of any district to seek for a division providing such alteration is not to the detriment of any other district. As far as the district to the north uf Tautnarunui and Ohura is concerned there «;an be no doubt that any attempt at. Reparation from the present, Waikato district is premature, and wi.uld brine; about, a state of things much worse thun exists at present. On the other hand there is no doubt the agitation will b c productive of good, inasmuch as greater attention will be directed to the urgent needs of a rapdly growing portion of the district. As has previously been pointed out in those columns the conditions under which this district i? becoming settled, tlw scattered nature of settlement, and the condition of the roads, render it desirable that special efforts should be directed towards meeting the requirements of settlers in respoct to hospital and medical facilities generally. That the Hospital Beard has met the demands made upon it in the past t;o the best of its ability there can bo little doubt. That it will continue to do so in future is manifested by its action in tho appointment of the committee to report on the necessities of the district. Tho result, of the committee's investigation and report should be a broader and more sympathetic understanding botvveen the board members, and the large and rapidly growing district over which the board exercises jurisdiction.
