We held our monthly sale in the Ngaruawahia yards on the Bth inst., when we had a yarding of 1113 head of cattle, all of which changed hands at satisfactory prices. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, November 9lh, is as follows, quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot: — Mutton. —The market is quiet, but holders are firm. Canterbury 4Jd, North Island 4§d. Lamb. —The market is steady, and pricfs well maintained. Canterbury sfd, other than Canterbury 5Jd. Beef. —The market is dull, with large supply of Irish beef. New Zealand hindquarters Ssd, fores 2fd. Butter. —The market is quiet, with tendency in favour of buyers, but rather unsettled. The average price for the week was Choicest New Zealand 121s, Australian 117s, Argentine 117s, Danish 128 a, Siberian 109s. Cheese. —The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Canadian white 625, coloured 635. Hemp.—The market is very firm. Spot New Zealand, good fair, £35; fair grade £33 10s; forward shipment about the same price. Spot fair current Manila £35; January to March fair current Manila £36. The output from Manila for the week was 19,000 bales.
