WAIKAKA.
Own Correspondent. Mr Kensington, Government surveyor, is at present engaged surveying a hlock of Grown land adjoining Messrs Seccombe Bros.' estate on the Waikaka. The block contains about 9000 acres of the best land in the district, it being well wattered and on the whole very easy country. Two brace of Chinese pheasants were forwarded oy the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last week to Mr F. Seccombe and were liberated on his Waikaka estate. Docking opertions are in full swing at present. Mr F. Seccombe has just finished. The percentage panned out at 90, which is above the average. Taking the wet season into consideration it is an exceptionally good record. Mr Seccombe's estate carries two and a-half sheep to the acre exclusive of twenty horses and one hundred head of cattle. The property has the great advantage of lying well to the sun and being well watered and sheltered. Mr W. Bailey, bush contractor for Mr Seccombe, made a record drive last week, clearing something near a quarter of an acre.
